Souder, a killing of a human being detective in a small Texan metropolis, and his partner, transplanted New York City cop Detective Heigh, footmark a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims' mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call 'The Killing Fields'. Though the swampland gross offence scenes are outside their jurisdiction, Detective Heigh is unable to turn his back on solving the gruesome murders. Despite his participator's warnings, he sets out to scrutinize the crimes. Before long, the killer changes the plan and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them through possible clues at the crime scenes during the time that always remaining one step ahead. When conversible local girl Anne goes missing, the detectives perceive themselves racing against time to fasten upon the killer and save the young miss's life.
